Settlement Reached Between Family and Boeing in 737 MAX Crash Case

Manant Vaidya, who lives in Ontario, Canada, reached a settlement with Boeing after losing six family members in the crash of an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 in 2019.

The settlement was reached just days after hearings began in a wrongful death lawsuit filed on behalf of the family in Chicago, United States. The aircraft, which had departed from Addis Ababa bound for Kenya, crashed shortly after takeoff, killing all 157 people on board. Among the victims were 18 Canadian citizens.

In the accident, Vaidya lost his parents, his sister, his brother-in-law, and two nieces who were studying in the Peel region. It was reported that the family was traveling to show the young girls their mother’s birthplace and to visit family friends.

Manant Vaidya’s lawsuit against Boeing concluded without a court ruling, approximately seven years after the crash, following the settlement reached between the parties. No details regarding the financial terms of the agreement were disclosed.
